One Full Year with Thuza and Kusasa

by | May 22, 2023 | Community, Conservation, Guides, Hwange National Park

It’s been exactly one year since Thuza and Kusasa made their 17-hour, 750 kilometre long road trip from the Malilangwe Trust to Tsholotsho communal lands just south of Hwange National Park. And everything has changed since they first came to their new home. From the rhinos’ first day here on the 22nd of May 2022 and the first few weeks being held in their habituation boma, to the Cobras Community Wildlife Protection scouts learning to close guard them, to the first visits of local community members and school children, to our first guest rhino activity…Thuza and Kusasa have come a long way!

Thuza and Kususa have brought a huge amount of excitement in their first year of being here. They have become local and international celebrities, bringing many smiles on people’s faces and giving the white rhino hope for a future in Hwange.

Thanks to Matteo Reitberger for compiling the video.
