1 hour small plane charter from Victoria Falls or Bulawayo (Don’t forget to check the baggage allowance as there are weight limitations on light aircraft)
4 hour road transfer from Victoria Falls or Bulawayo.
Road transfers: on the main tar road 220 kilometres between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, is Halfway House. This is our pickup and drop off point for Bomani Tented Lodge. The drive from Victoria Falls to Halfway House crosses the Matetsi, Deka and Gwaai Rivers and winds through the scenic village communities of the Nyumbia People within the baobab dotted hills of the Hwange Communal Lands. Coming from Bulawayo you will cross the Umguza and Bembezi Rivers and pass through the Gwaai and Bembezi indigenous forest areas. One of our open top safari vehicles will collect you from Halfway House and drive you the remaining 60 kilometres – about 1.5 hours, to Bomani. This drive is through the indigenous Ngamo Forest woodland where elephants and sable are often spotted.
Road and rail transfers: 2 hour road transfer to Dete Railway Station from Victoria Falls and then board the Elephant Express Railcar for the remainder of the journey to Ngamo Siding near Bomani - approximately 2 hours. The railway line borders Hwange National Park and game is often seen during the journey. It was the longest stretch of perfectly straight rail line in the world – 120 kms - when it was built in the early 1900’s. The northern section runs through magnificent indigenous hardwood forest, while the south crosses the Ngamo Plains and ancient palm forests. The rail car seats 22 passengers and has a chemical toilet. Scheduled departure from Dete Railway Station to Ngamo Siding is at 14h00 and scheduled departure on return from Ngamo siding is at 11h00.
Please note the rail car will not be able to be used if guests are arriving that day on an international flight or departing that day on an international flight.
